Privacy notice

What Good Eggs collects, why, who helps us, and what you can ask us to do with it. Last updated 31 October 2026.

Who this notice covers

This notice is about the personal data Good Eggs decides how to use: people who visit goodeggs.net, people who get in touch with us, and the staff and volunteers who sign in to run a charity’s site.

A charity’s own website, and the people in its records, are covered by that charity’s privacy notice. For that data the charity is the controller and we are its processor, acting only on its instructions.

What we collect

When you get in touch: your name, email, phone number if you give it, your organisation and what you tell us, with a copy of the consent wording you ticked.

When you have an account: your name, email, role, a scrambled copy of your password, your two-step sign-in setup, and a record of when you signed in and what you changed, so a charity can see who did what.

When you visit: the pages you open, your browser and device, and a rough location from your IP address. Analytics only run once you say yes to them in the cookie banner.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

To answer your enquiry and talk to you about joining (legitimate interests, or taking steps towards a contract).

To run your account and the service a charity has signed up for, and to keep it secure (contract and legitimate interests).

To see how the website is used and make it better, only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

To keep records the law asks us to keep (legal obligation).

Who helps us

Google Cloud hosts the service, its database and its files, in London. Cloudflare protects the website and carries its traffic. An email delivery provider sends the messages the service sends, such as sign-in links.

With your consent, Google Analytics and PostHog measure how the website is used. They may process data in the United States, under the UK’s approved safeguards for international transfers.

We never sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Enquiries: as long as we need them to answer you and follow up, then we delete them. Accounts: while the charity uses the service, and until its data is deleted after it leaves. Sign-in and change records: as long as the charity’s account, so its history stays complete. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for it in a form you can take elsewhere. Email us and we will reply within a month.

If your data is in a charity’s records, ask that charity first; we will help it answer you.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would like the chance to put it right first.
